Insert a 0.015 feeler gauge between the pump arm and the adjustment screw bottom. The pump arm should move down a bit when the feeler gauge blade is inserted. The proper adjustment prevents the diaphragm from getting stretched to its maximum limit at wide open throttle. Adjust each idle mixture screw (Figures 12 & 13) 1/8 turn at a time, alternating between each screw. Turn them equally, until you achieve the highest possible vacuum reading without adjusting the curb idle speed screw. Turn screws in to decrease the idle fuel mixture. Turn them out to increase the idle fuel mixture. Step 2. Adjust the fuel level by setting the float first. The ideal fuel level is when the fuel can be seen at the bottom of the sight hole. Start the engine for a minute and shut it off again. To set the floats on a Holley, use the 5/8-inch wrench to hold the nut on the top of each float bowl, and loosen the lock screw on top of the bolt.
